dc.description.abstract | This paper presents a new meta-heuristic algorithm to solve the optimization problem in transmission network expansion planning. It's a mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem of combinatorial nature that leads to an extremely large number of alternative solutions for medium and large size electric systems. Evolutionary self-adapting Particle Swarm Optimization is a revolutionary optimization tool. It puts together the best features of Evolution Strategies and of Particle Swarm Optimization. Tests have been performed on three systems whit different level of difficulty in their topologies. The outcomes of the test have demonstrated that EPSO is a very successful algorithm. | en |
